PURPOSE:
The Center for Families of Individuals with Development Disabilities (CFIDD) is a
non-profit organization, which serves individuals with disabilities and their
families in American Samoa. CFIDD’s Community Parent Resource Center
(CPRC) Administrative Office is located in Ottoville, Tafuna.  CFIDD’s Training
and Extended Services are held at their location at Tafuna Lion’s Park.  Both
locations provide training, information, referrals, advocacy, empowerment and
networking with other parents' organizations locally, the Pacific and in the US.
GOALS:
1.      To provide information to families in American Samoa on disabilities.

2.      To make referrals for families of individuals with disabilities to programs       
         and agencies for services such as assessment and evaluation, instructional
         and educational placement; physical and occupation therapy; speech and    
         language and medical care.

3.      To advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities as guaranteed         
         under local and federal laws.

4.      To provide for a comprehensive, coordinated and flexible system of family     
         supports and advocacy such as support groups, social respite care through
      the YES Program, intervention and family counseling.

5.     To provide Center-based trainings such as Speech and Language,                    
        Transition, IEP (Individualized Educational Plan), IFSP (Individualized          
        Family Service Plan), Related Services, Parent Rights, IDEA 2004,                    
        Behavioral, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Skills Training and Social

ACTIVITIES:
CFIDD delivers Center-based trainings in close collaboration with off-island
professionals and local service providers. These activities include the following:

Parent Training and Information Services in all areas of disabilities
Parent Resource Library with High-Speed Internet access
Parent Rights
Parent Support Groups
Family Counseling
Individualized Educational Plan and Individualized Family Service Plan
Transitions
After-School Social and Recreational Respite (YES Program)
The understanding of Assessment and Diagnosis

Referrals to Treatment and Therapies (i.e. speech and language, behavioral,
physical and occupational; recreational; music and art; and sensory integration).

Trainings in areas such as Assistive Technology Services
Crisis Intervention Support
