Mission Statement
To provide information, referrals,
advocacy and support services to
families and individuals with disabilities
and to assist them to maximize their
potential and experience full inclusion in
all areas of community life, from school
to recreation.
Purpose
The goals of the Center are:
- To provide information to families in American Samoa on disabilities;
- To make referrals for families of individuals with disabilities to programs and
agencies for services such as assessment and evaluation, instructional and
educational placement; physical and occupational therapy; speech and
language and medical care;
- To advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities as guaranteed under
local and federal laws
- To provdie for a comprehensive, coordinated, and flexible system of family
supports, such as: support groups, respite care, crisis, intervention, family
counseling and advocacy.
- To provide Center-based intervention services and trainings in areas such as
speech and language, behaviorial, physical and occupational therapy,
recreational therapy, music and art therapy.
